The Beatles As You’ve Never Heard Them Before…
Beatles devotee Sean Wyer’s verdict on ‘Love’, featuring 26 Beatles tracks painstakingly reworked by legendary
producers, George and Giles Martin.
The Beatles need no introduction. Their music defines an entire era, and is still as popular and relevant today as it was forty years ago. Love, in true Beatles style, and using only material recorded by The Beatles in their heyday, is, paradoxically, an entirely new production.
The tracks have been worked on, re-mastered and juggled by the producers, resulting in an authentic yet refreshing CD. The choice of tracks is as much a masterpiece as the tracks themselves, with a perfect balance of upbeat tunes (Drive My Car, Revolution, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band) and relaxing melodies (Because, Yesterday, Here Comes The Sun).
Filling material is, in my opinion, non-existent here. Every track is worth listening to as much as the next, although every listener will, naturally, have preferences. Personal favourites include ‘Strawberry Fields’, ‘Lady Madonna’, and ‘Back in the U.S.S.R’.
For seasoned fans, and those new to The Beatles, the album is well worth listening to. The best thing about ‘Love’ is that it uses original material, as opposed to remixes, which produces an altogether more Beatles-esque compilation. Fresh material such as this should ensure the continuance of the ever-growing legacy of Beatlemania!
