Food Faces at Photo Exhibition

one

South Wye Girls Group 'Food Faces' are exhibited at Hereford Photography Festival

Photos made with food were produced and photographed by the South Wye Girls Group based at the Hinton Community Centre. The girls learnt about digital photography during a series of workshops where they tried their hand at taking their own portraits as well as the food images.

Exploring different photographic ideas and techniques young people from the South Wye Girls Group, a Herefordshire Council Community Youth Service Project, created these portraits of each other and their very own Food Faces.

Over a series of workshops commissioned by The Youth Service, The Rural Media Company worked with Youth Service staff and young people looked at framing, locations and light and learned how to use digital cameras to take portraits of each other.

Each young person created their Food Face by compiling a shopping list of some of their favourite snacks and then using these materials to shape the features of a face. Each young person then set up their shot and took a photograph of their creation.
