Education - Sams Story
By InSITE Contributor Sam
At school I was in the bottom set for all my lessons because of my reading and writing. In year nine, just before I was due to sit my exams, my mum left. Because of the stress I was unable to complete them and I was stopped from attending lessons as the teacher thought it would be too emotional for me. I eventually sat my GCSE’s and got the grades I needed to do a course in childcare.
Towards the end of my childcare course we were flooded and I couldn’t complete the course. About three weeks later I found out that nobody completed that year. At school I was made to feel that I would never achieve anything but I have turned my weaknesses into strengths. My older brother was in the top set and a year ahead. He aced his GCSE’s, went to college and quit after three months. After a long line of factory jobs he now delivers fruit and veg. My younger brother passed all his GCSE’s with C grades and my little sister has sat a few of her GCSE’s and will complete them this year.
