Supported Housing for Young People Project - SHYPP
Herefordshire SHYPP housing and support service for 16-25yr olds
The Supported Housing for Young People Project (SHYPP) offers a fantastic housing and support service for 16-25 yr olds in Herefordshire. Their crisis team based in Hereford deals with several people each day who find themselves homeless. Originally set up as part of a partnership group SHYPP now work with approx 700 young people per year.

SHYPP provide a number of services for a range of different housing needs, some of these include:
- Night Stop - Volunteers offer an emergency room in their house overnight for young people to stay if they have nowhere else to go.
- Foyers - SHYPP run three Foyers in Hereford, Leominster and Ross. These Foyers provide shared housing for young people to live in with support workers on hand to offer help and advice. This service is designed for people who can't get housing elsewhere and don't have the funds to rent. 60 young people benefited from this service last year.
- Move on flats - Self contained flats for people moving on from a Foyer.
- Outreach team - Continued support for those who have moved out and are now living independently. Specifically tailored Support is also available for young parents through SHYPP.
- SHAC Project (Supported Housing After Care)- supported housing for those leaving care.
As well as all the housing services SHYPP also offer opportunities to gain qualifications through the Learning and skills council and lifestyle coaching for all residents (cookery, sports etc.). There are also many Volunteering opportunities for young people involved with SHYPP.
