Big Challenge

Let the Big Challenge be your challenge - by James Johnson

BIG Challenge gives YOU the opportunity to tackle the BIG problems that face our communities. After a fantastic first year, Big Challenge 2 has arrived! If you are aged 16 to 25, you have the chance to apply for part of the £60,000 prize fund to tackle this year's challenge. The theme was chosen by the Big Challenge Youth Leadership Team, who worked together to agree on a theme that they feel is meaningful to young people across the UK. The theme for this year is ‘Community and Cultural Unity’. Now the team is looking for original campaign ideas that will have a big impact. This is your chance to make a difference! We’re looking for big ideas with big impact to heal rifts in the community and ease racial tensions..

You can apply on your own or in a group with other young people and applications can be submitted in a number of formats. All applications will be shortlisted by our Youth Leadership Team before going on to a final online public vote. Remember the Theme is ‘Community and Cultural Unity’. If you’re a Youth Group or a youth organisation that deals with disadvantaged members of the community such as Romany Travellers, disabled young people or if you bring the youth and elderly together these are just some of things that come under our theme. For more information on how to apply for part of this £60,000 and about the yearly run ‘Big Challenge youth project visit www.bigchallenge.org.uk

If you win part of the Challenge fund, you will receive money to cover the costs of your campaign and support and mentoring to help transform your ideas to reality.

Hereford is lucky to have a member of the Youth Leadership Team presiding here, look out for posters, flyers and general banter about a ‘Big Challenge’ regional even coming at the end of August/early September. Expect entertainment, freebee’s and the opportunity to bag yourself £200 pound on the day!
